About Senator Schmidt

A 30-year resident of unincorporated Lake Villa Township, Suzi Schmidt was sworn in as State Senator for the 31st district on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, after being elected to the seat in 2010.
 
Previously, Senator Schmidt was the Chairman of the Lake County Board, having served in that position since 2000. Additionally, Schmidt served as a county board member since 1988. Also, since 1988, Schmidt has served as a Lake County Forest Preserve Commissioner. Prior to her public service for Lake County, Schmidt also served as a Lake Villa Township Trustee from 1985 to 1988.
 

Senator Schimdt has also been long-active in her community. She is the President of Metro Counties, serves on the Board of Governors of the Lake County University Center, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Lake County Municipal League. Additionally, Schmidt  is member of the Lindenhurst/Lake Villa Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Lake Villa Library, and Lake Villa Historical Society.

Senator Schmidt received her Bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and has been a resident of Lake Villa Township for over 30 years.
